Story League Story Contest: "Tasty"
HOW MUCH: Pre-selected (http://www.storyleague.org/submit-a-story) storytellers and Story League Members (http://www.storyleague.org/storystore) get in for $10. Everyone else gets in for $12 pre-sale. Pre-Sale Tickets: http://tastystory.brownpapertickets.com/ A very limited number of tickets will be sold for $15 cash at the door (waiting list sign-up for that begins at 8:15 at Busboys' front desk).
RULES ETC.: Storytellers will have 7 minutes to tell a true, personal funny story on the theme "tasty": Think: food and drink (good or bad), things in good or bad taste, even the '80s sense of tasty as in "tasty babes." No notes or props are allowed. The Judges' funniest will be announced at the end of the night and will receive a $150 Cash Prize. The audience will also select its funniest. Both winners go on to compete in the Story League ALL-STARS Tournament, where the prize jumps to $300! Submit your 100-word story synopsis here for a chance to compete: http://www.storyleague.org/submit-your-story. Deadline is Wednesday, August 13 at 3 PM. Our 3 expert judges will consider all story idea submissions and decide which stories they most wish to hear. You will be notified by Friday, August 15, whether you are guaranteed to go on.
Also: 2 storytellers will be selected randomly at the contest.
Pre-selected storytellers will do a half-hour phone coaching session with a Story League Legend (http://www.storyleague.org/legends).
IMPORTANT: Seating cannot be guaranteed for any ticket holder after 9:00. Line forms approx. 8:30 and doors open at 8:45. See photo/video/audio release on ticket page.
