Film Screening in honor of Gabriela Leite
(1951-2013)
Gabriela Leite, founder of the sex worker rights
movement in Brazil, was the first sex worker to run for
Brazilian Congress. ?A Kiss for Gabriela? tells the story
of her 2010 campaign as she faces 822 opponents and
challenges a male-dominated political system. The film
explores what it means for a woman who represents one of the
most stigmatized populations in the world to run for office.
Join HIPS and the Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE)
for a screening of ?A Kiss for Gabriela? in celebration of
Gabriela?s life and work.
