Description:

Derek McGinty is in the house!

Busboys and Poets Books welcomes Derek McGinty to narrate the newly released legal thriller Jones Point by John Adam Wasowicz. Discussion moderated by Ciera Shine, host of “Sankifa with Shine” on WPFW, a new show about visiting the past in order to make connections for the future, focuses on bridging the generational gap.

This event is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served. Busboys and Poets Books will have copies of Jones Point available for purchase at the event in both audio and soft cover format. Guests are encouraged to pick-up the audiobook available at the bookstore through Libro.fm. Full menu and bar will be available for purchase throughout the event.

McGinty, a DC native, is a broadcast journalist fondly remembered as the host of the “Derek McGinty Show” broadcast on WAMU over a seven-year span in the 1990s. McGinty departed radio to pursue a career as a television reporter or anchor for a succession of shows, including the CBS News program “Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel,” “Real Sports” on HBO, WJLA news, WUSA 9 News, and “Eye on Washington.” His popular radio show received the Gold Award for Public Affairs Programming from the Corporation of Public Broadcasting in 1994, the highest programming honor in public radio.

This is McGinty’s first foray into book narration. His rhythmic tones and melodious cadences will have listeners longing for a saner, simpler time when his radio show ruled the airwaves!

Wasowicz is an attorney with 30 years of experience in the public and private sector. Jones Point is his second novel. His first book, Daingerfield Island, was published two years ago. Both books feature the fictional character Mo Katz, an attorney who resides in Alexandria, VA.

In Jones Point, two grisly murders and a deadly conflagration on the Woodrow Wilson bridge put Mo Katz, U.S. Attorney EDVA, on a collision course with a rogue intelligence operative and a sinister person of interest.

“Jones Point is a fast-paced, compelling murder mystery that races to an action-packed climax. Clever plotting keeps the reader guessing. Suspenseful to the end.” — Nancy A. Olson, poet and freelance writer, Putney, VT.

Jones Point is a winner, a thriller of our times that grows out of the real Washington DC where decent people do the best they can to keep the rest of us safe. Highly recommended.” — Jake Needham, author of the Barry Award nominated Samuel Tay series.

Mo Katz and crew take on assorted miscreants in this kinetic thriller. A real page turner!” — Dayna Wilkinson, DC Chapter Head, Harvardwood.
