Carolyn Malachi, the Grammy-nominated songstress hailing from Washington, DC, is a shining example of how music truly is universal. Her vocal talents, breathtaking live performances, and songwriting acumen have served international audiences and wowed music lovers in South Africa, China, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Japan, Haiti, Barbados and beyond. Lady Brion is a soulful Spoken Word Artist out of Baltimore, Maryland committed to beautifying the world around her, uplifting the spirits of others, advocating on behalf of the marginalized and thoughtful expression. She is Baltimore's current Grand Slam Champion! In 2015 she represented Baltimore in the National Poetry Slam Competition, in Oakland California and the Individual World Poetry Slam Competition, in Washington DC, she was also awarded a fellowship from the Open Society Institute to do poetry workshops at prisons and group homes around the Greater Baltimore area.A Busboys and Poetry event! For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
