Description:

Women's History Month is in full swing, and you can celebrate by joining us for a very special exhibition + panel discussion. Women's March Co-President Bob Bland will be hosting along with Women's March National organizers including Ianta Summers, as well as many of the local DC artists who created the art for the 2019 Women's March on Washington.

For the first time ever, you can take a close-up look at the full collection of the dozens of iconic hand-painted banners, signs, sculptures and fabric waves that were designed + crafted in just 3 short weeks by a talented and diverse collective of women/non binary artists, many who will be present to speak about their work in a moderated panel discussion. There will also be time for a Q&A afterward if you have questions about the art!

To get inside the process of bringing the Women's Agenda to life through art, our incredible panelists will include:

Nasreen Alkhateeb, All Media Storytelling

Jennifer White-Johnson

Vy Vu

Rose Jaffe

This event is a fundraiser to continue the work of the Women's Agenda, a first of its kind intersectional feminist policy agenda created by over 70 policy experts and unveiled on January 19, 2019 at the 3rd Women's March on Washington.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds, but if you can please consider making the suggested $20 donation and buying some Women's Wave merchandise at the event to support our work!

This event is family friendly and open to all, so feel free to invite all your friends in the DMV to celebrate the power of the creative resistance!

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This is an all ages event, no ID necessary! This event is open to the public, and while we are asking for a $20 donation to support Women's March's ongoing work, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Busboys & Poets' Brookland location is in the heart of the arts district of our first Northeast, DC location. Their outdoor patio has a view of The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Catholic University of America’s campus and a giant water fountain. Inside is their Busboys and Poets Books bookstore and events space The Bailey Room named after former Brookland resident and actress Pearl Bailey.

The closest Metro stop is the Brookland-CUA Red train, one minute's walk away. There is also nearby parking on-street and in parking garages, as well as several bus lines.

Can I bring my own food?

We ask that aside from food that is necessary for young children, babies, that you not bring any outside food or beverages. Busboys and Poets has a full menu, non-alcoholic beverages and a bar!

Can I buy the art?

Each of the pieces on exhibition is one of a kind, and we want to share them with the whole world! So while they are not for sale, we will have a selection of wonderful, ethically made 2019 commemorative Women's Wave merchandise that you can purchase and help support our work! Also, please get the artists' contact information and support them directly!

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please reach Bob at bob@womensmarch for any questions.
