Description:

Please join us for an informative and story-filled evening discussion with a WECAN Delegation of three Tlingit women from the Tongass and one Yupik woman who is living in the Tongass with her Tlingit husband and daughter. They are traveling from Alaska to Washington, D.C. to tell their community stories, and advocate for the protection of their ancient forest homeland, which is the largest old growth forest in North America—the Tongass National Forest. The Tongass is the U.S.’s single most important national forest for carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation and thus, their advocacy could not be more important and timely. This is an historic Delegation, as this is the first time Tlingit women have come to the Capitol to fight to protect their traditional territory.

There will be a presentation and time for Q and A.
LIVE-STREAM: If you are not in the D.C. area, we will be live-streaming from the Women's Earth and Climate Action Network Facebook page!
