A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Simply Sherri.
California born and Maryland raised, Simply Sherri started writing in 2001 and started reciting her work in 2008 in her poetic home of Baltimore. With topics ranging from love and relationships to depression and verbal abuse, her writing style is easy going and a reflection of her world.
Simply Sherri has spotlighted and featured in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington and Atlanta. In 2010 she released her debut poetry CD Liquefy. She released her first book “Love Simply” in 2015. She is the host of several poetry venues between Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC.
FEATURING: MEGAN RICKMAN-BLACKWOOD
Megan Rickman-Blackwood, native of Richmond, Va. is a nationally renowned published poet with over a decade of touring and teaching experience. Throughout the early stages of her career she excelled in Slam Poetry, ranking 6th in the World at the Women of the World Poetry Slam, and third at the Southern Fried Poetry Slam, as well as competing with Nationally ranked top 10 teams. She has taught workshops on poetry at universities and colleges throughout the country as well as local non-profit and high school programs. She currently serves as Partnership Liaison to Untold RVA, as well as a consulting political speech strategist, while she pursues her Juris Doctorate. She continues to perform selectively, and is in final edits of her first completed collection of poetry due to be published in 2019

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
$5 Cover. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in a forfeiture of seats.
