A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Tatiana Figueroa-Ramirez
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the mainland United States, Tatiana Figueroa Ramirez graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and is a VONA Voices Alumna, having worked with award winning poets Willie Perdomo and Danez Smith. She recently completed the Poetry Teaching Artist Training Program under Jonathan B. Tucker and an artist residency in Santo Domingo. Tatiana currently performs and teaches poetry workshops in the greater Washington DC area, having previously done so in New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic at venues including New York University and The Howard Theatre. Edyka Chilomé is an internationally praised queer Salvadorean / Mexican American cultural worker. She has been asked to share her poetry and speak on social justice issues on multiple media platforms and in spaces around the country and Latin America including Tedx, NPR, and The Huffington Post. Edyka has produced and published numerous articles, essays, plays, and poems including a collection of poetry that explores queer indigenous mestizaje in the diaspora entitled “She Speaks | Poetry” as well as her newest collection "El Poemario Del Colibrí", an intimate look at joy and healing as political resistance. For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
$5 cover. Wristbands are available for purchase online at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats. Sorry, no refunds.
