Description:

A Busboys and Poets event hosted this week by Morgan Butler

Morgan “Momo da Mermaid” Butler is a witchy writer, educator, and interdisciplinary atist from Washington, D.C. Her work primarily focuses on cultivating healing spaces for femmes of color in white/masc/het-dominated spaces, specifically through creative writing and radical healing. A 2018 Loft Literary Center Spoken Word Immersion Fellow, she has performed for TedxFoggyBottom, TV One’s Verses and Flow and has been welcomed into spaces at The White House, The Kennedy Center and the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. As an educator, she has led two workshops at Harvard University’s Alumni of Color Conference and has taught sessions on peace education and creative writing throughout the D.C, Maryland, Virginia area. Momo identifies as a queer, genderfluid femme, with she/they pronouns.

Featuring: A'on Jones

From cultivating in Nawlins to migrating to the North of DC, A’Jon carries her experiences in life with her through music and poetry. A’Jon is an authentic performer who expresses her sounds through lo fi, r&b, neo soul, and hip hop. Her lyrics proclaim the truth of how life is lived through her world while making the audience and listeners, through all streaming platforms, relate to her messages of love, family and personal emotions we all go through.
