Description:

                                         S T O K E D  BURLESQUE & POETRY: A QUEER SALON

Curated & Hosted by "The Fairy Godmother of Spoken Word Poetry" Regie Cabico & the 2015 Pioneer of Poetry recipient by the National Underground Spoken Word Poetry Awards, C Thomas, Stoked Burlesque & Poetry Queer Salon is the first ongoing Burlesque and Poetry fusion event in the DMV, featuring anywhere from the best to upcoming queer writers and Burlesque artists in a whimsical, sexy, and poetic way. STOKED provides a salon space where the fiercest voices from the rainbow gather the 3rd Friday of the Month at Busboys & Poets in Takoma, to nurture their voices, sing their hearts out and dance the night away in a sultry and quirky environment. Prepare a maximum of 5 minutes of material: acoustic music, stand-up, spoken word, are all welcome but please refrain from transphobic, racist, & misogynistic work, as the space is designated for Queer & SGL Identities and their Queer allies to shine. Show starts at 9pm. Sign up at 8:40pm. All disciplines welcome. Vocalists must perform accapella or with their own acoustic accompanist.

Tickets at the Door are cash only - $5
