Join us at Takoma August 16th from 7-9 PM for the inaugural edition of Busboys and Poets Trivia! Are you tired of the same old trivia night in Takoma? OF COURSE YOU AREN’T, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRIVIA IN TAKOMA!
We're kicking off our trivia night with a bang! Prizes, mini-games, and maybe some special guests!- 8 Rounds, 10 questions per round, plus one final round where you can wager it all!
- No team minimum: play by yourself or grab some friends
- No cover: play for free and play to win
- Extended happy hour for all players until 9 PM
The player or team with the most points after the final round will win the grand prize for the evening, to be revealed at the beginning of play, so come down early and grab a spot for our inaugural trivia night!

These are all phrases spoken about your Busboys and Poets Trivia host, Max Johansen. He’s played trivia on every continent and in every setting, from the polished podiums of Jeopardy! to the the no-holds barred underground Quiz Bowl circuit. If it’s a useless fact, he knows it, and he’s here to test your skills and reward the worthy with fabulous prizes!
Max grew up in South Florida, but moved to D.C. because he wanted to spend more money on rent and always feel not quite progressive enough. While not hosting Busboys and Poets Trivia, he teaches biology to youngsters in the summertime, and enjoys cooking, traveling, and hiking with his dog Fergus year round. His favorite author is R.A. Salvatore, and his favorite movie is Pulp Fiction, followed closely by The Usual Suspects and L.A. Confidential. He thinks Michael Pollan and Alton Brown can pretty much do no wrong.
He’s not great at talking about himself, in print anyway, so come and say hello and mingle for a while in between rounds. Maybe he’ll read you some of his short stories, and maybe you won’t immediately hate them!
