Former Town & Country editor and author of the debut ENEMIES IN LOVE, Alexis Clark will be in conversation with Georgetown professor Chris Chambers to discuss the riveting true love story of Elinor Powell, a black nurse in the American Army, who fell in love with a German POW named Frederick Albert twenty years before Loving v. Virginia. The book has been featured on NPR’s Code Switch and PBS Newshouramong other outlets and was named a “New and Notable” pick by The New York Times Book Review.

Alexis Clark is the author of Enemies in Love: A German POW, a Black Nurse, and an Unlikely Romance (published by The New Press). She has written for The New York Times, The Smithsonian Magazine and was previously an editor at Town & Country magazine. She lives in New York City.”
