Join Baby Ventures co-founders Golzar Kheiltash and Lisa Hall for a fun and interactive story time as they read from their book, The ABCs of Washington, DC. This vibrant board book showcases DC locales and landmarks brought to life by local authors. Little ones will love practicing their ABCs while enjoying a literary tour of the nation's capital. From "I" for ice skating on the national mall to "Y" for metro's yellow line, the book provides a distinctly native take on the letters of the alphabet. Perfect for DC area tots age 0-4.
Baby Ventures is a local indie children's board book company. Co-founders Golzar Kheiltash and Lisa Hall created the company with one mission: to encourage children early on to explore all the places, cultures, and creatures around them with wonder and compassion. They aim to combine diversity-inspired adventures with vibrant artwork to create one-of-a-kind board books and other children's products.
Lisa Hall, Co-Author and Illustrator: Lisa is a life-long artist with a knack for children’s art, inspired by her many travels around the world. She served in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa, worked in Australia, backpacked across Latin America, and volunteered at orphanages in India and Bolivia. She has been retailing her children's artwork for the past decade and is now drawing from her experiences to create the Baby Ventures book series.
Golzar Kheiltash, Co-Author:Â An avid humanitarian and advocate, Golzar trained as a lawyer and spent eleven years working on behalf of vulnerable populations at leading non-profit advocacy organizations worldwide, including in Washington, DC and New York. Her work took her from big cities and small towns throughout the US to European capitals, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Since becoming mom to a tenacious and book-loving toddler, Golzar is committed to a new passion arising from her many experiences: creating adventure-inspired, diversity-friendly, and beautifully illustrated board books for young children everywhere.
