Join us in person for a vibrant Open Mic gathering of Black, Brown, and progressive creativesnavigating the challenges under Trump 2.0.
Black, Brown, and leftist intellectuals, writers, journalists, poets, musicians, and nearly everyone in the world of arts and creativity are facing escalating challenges under what many critics describe as the climate of Trump 2.0.
The recent pressure on the Southern Poverty Law Center is one example cited by civil rights advocates who warn that institutions documenting hate, extremism, and discrimination are being targeted in ways that threaten their ability to operate freely.
Artists and thinkers across the country report a growing atmosphere of intimidation — from funding cuts and public vilification to heightened scrutiny of cultural institutions. Many say these pressures are designed to silence dissent, weaken watchdog organizations, and narrow the space for critical thought.
Yet the creative community has always been a frontline of resistance. Across cities, campuses, and cultural spaces, people are organizing, speaking, writing, performing, and refusing to be quiet. They remind us that art is not a luxury — it is a form of truth?telling, a record of struggle, and a tool of collective survival.
