The program will also spotlight the historic Black neighborhoods of Bates, Hanover, Old City II, and Shaw—communities that helped shape the cultural and intellectual foundation of Black Washington.

Featuring remarks from local historians, educators, and special guests, this gathering invites the community to reflect on history, celebrate legacy, and honor the voices that continue to inspire generations.
