Poetic Checkmate brings together competitive chess and spoken word for an exciting afternoon of strategy, creativity, and community.
The event features a 4-round, 10-minute blitz chess tournament (unrated) with a $200 prize fund, alongside a live poetry slam competition with a $100 winner-takes-all prize, performed between rounds.
Chess tournament entry is $10 with early registration and $20 at the door. Entry to compete in the poetry slam is $10. Boards and clocks are provided, and participants of all skill levels are welcome. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the venue.
