Join Busboys and Poets Books for a very special evening with poet Yung Pueblo. Diego Perez, also known as Yung Pueblo, will be reading from his new book, Inward, and will give a talk about self love, the mind, and unconditional love. Join us for an inspirational evening and meet the IG famous Poet.
"Self love is an energy, one that we use to know ourselves, heal ourselves, and accept all that is within us. With self love we have the determination and courage to move deeply inward using honesty as our guide. This inward movement transforms our being, dramatically enhancing our awareness of who we are, our understanding of the universe, and our capabilities as an individual - the most beautiful part of this process is that our new sense of compassion towards ourselves does not end with us, it blossoms and flows outward into the lives of others, and ultimately has the capacity, if consistently cultivated, to encompass all beings." - Yung Pueblo
Inward is a collection of poetry, quotes, and prose that explores the movement from self love to unconditional love, the power of letting go, and the wisdom that comes when we truly try to know ourselves. It serves as a reminder to the reader that healing, transformation, and freedom are possible.
Diego Perez is a meditator, writer, and speaker who is most widely known on Instagram and various social media networks through his pen name Yung Pueblo. The name Yung Pueblo means young people; it serves to remind him of his Ecuadorian roots, his experiences in activism, and that the collective of humanity is in the midst of important growth.
Diego's practice of Vipassana meditation, as taught by S.N. Goenka, has given him a deeper understanding of liberation that inspires his written work. Through writing and speaking he aims to support the healing of the individual, knowing that when people release their personal burdens it helps humanity build a global peace.
Through poems, quotes, and short essays he explores the reality of self healing, the movement from self love to unconditional love, and the wisdom that comes when we truly work toward knowing ourselves.
Diego studied at Wesleyan University and is currently living in New York City.
