Please join Busboys and Poets Books as we welcome Khaled Beydoun to 14th and V to discuss his new book American Islamophobia: Understanding the Roots and Rise of Fear.
Khaled A. Beydoun is a law professor, public intellectual and leading scholar on Islamophobia. His book examines the fear and hate of Muslims from a historical, legal and intersectional lens, tracing the roots of the modern system that menaces Muslim Americans through an examination of case law, personal stories, and intimate vignettes. The book develops an understanding Islamophobia that frames it as animus inflicted by private hate mongers, the state, and a dialectic between the two that authorizes and emboldens violence against Muslim Americans during the War on Terror, and most intensely, during the time of Trump.
