Please join Busboys and Poets Books as we welcome author Dave Zirin in conversation with Howard Bryant to discuss their new books - Jim Brown: Last Man Standing and The Heritage: Black Athletes, a Divided America, and the Politics of Patriotism - and athletes that do far more than "shut up and dribble." 

Dave Zirin is the sports editor for The Nation, a columnist for The Progressive, and the author of eight books on the politics of sports, including What's My Name, Fool? Sports and Resistance in the United States and A People's History of Sports in the United States. He was named among the Utne Reader's "50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World" and was a finalist for the 2016 PEN/ESPN Award for Literary Sports Writing.

Howard Bryant is a senior writer for ESPN the Magazine and the author of Shut Out: A Story of Race and Baseball in Boston, Juicing the Game: Drugs, Power and the Fight for the Soul of Major League Baseball, and The Last Hero: A Life of Henry Aaron.He is the editor of The Best American Sports Writing 2017. He appears regularly on ESPN's The Sports Reporters, ESPN First Take, Outside the Lines, and serves as sports correspondent for NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday.
