The Black Child Development Institute-DC Metropolitan is proud to present SPADES FROM THE HEART: A Charity Fundraiser. This exciting, energetic, and fun charity event is for the true Spades enthusiasts and fans of the game. Tournament goers will enjoy great food and drinks in the friendly environment of the DMV's acclaimed Bus Boys and Poets.
PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL GO TO: THE BOOKSHELF PROJECT
The Bookshelf Project is brought to you by the Black Child Development Institute-DC Metropolitan (BCDI-DC Metro); in collaboration with the National Black Child Development Institute’s (NBCDI), Read to Succeed Initiative. The work of The Bookshelf Project is designed to support closing the 30-million-word gap through literacy advocacy and the cultivation of in-home libraries for children from Birth through 5th grade for the purposes of fostering an early love for books, reading, and life-long learning.
The Bookshelf Project serves as a FREE book distribution mechanism designed to get more culturally relevant books in the hands and homes of children of color. In addition to receiving free books, each household will also receive a FREE bookshelf.
Your tax-deductible contribution will support our goal of supporting 500 families in the DMV with creating in-home libraries.
We look forward to you joining us on February 18. Open bar and food from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Tournament registration/check-in is at 6:30.
