Description:

Please join Busboys and Poets Books and The Pansy Project as we welcome artist and writer Paul Harfleet to introduce and read from his first book Pansy Boy, a picture book he wrote and illustrated. Rhyming couplets tell the story of a boy who revels in the joys of summer, exploring the flora and fauna around him. Reluctantly he returns to school where he is subjected to incessant bullying. Intelligent and bright, he is driven to create a plan to reclaim his school. After reading Paul will sign copies of the book.

Paul Harfleet is a London based artist and writer, he began The Pansy Project thirteen years ago. He plants pansies at the site of homophobia and over the years has planted at sites in many cities across the world including, New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Geneva and Istanbul. He documents the pansies with photography and film and posts them on his website www.thepansyproject.com.

This ongoing artwork has been a constant inspiration and the artist has created various incarnations of The Pansy Project from clothing and jewellry to an award winning garden design at the largest flower show in the world, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show where he won a Gold Medal and Best Conceptual Garden with his designer brother Tom Harfleet.

This event is co-sponsored by The Pansy Project.
