The Holy Name Society has been organizing a teach-in series entitled “The Trump Administration vs. Catholic Social Teaching”. Our kickoff event was a huge success thanks to our impressive speakers and of course thanks to the great participation of our community—we had over fifty people in attendance!
This event left us all wanting more, so please mark your calendars for Round Two of the teach-ins coming up on Monday, February 5 at 7pm at Busboys and Poets restaurant (on the corner of 14th and V streets). The topic for this event will be “Know Thyself St. Augustine: 160 Years of Faith in Action; the calling of the Black Catholic church in a Trump era.”
For this important conversation we have an exciting panel including Ms. Jeanné Isler, Member of the St. Augustine Parish Pastoral Council; Mr. Natan McKenzie, Parishioner and Financial Agent with New York Life; Mr. Lawrence Parks, President of the St. Augustine Holy Name Society; and Councilmember Robert C. White, Jr., St. Augustine friend and At-large Member of the Council of the District of Columbia.
We will provide light refreshments. Please bring your questions and a friend. We can’t engage if we’re not informed!
