Step into history, culture, and community with the Anacostia BID’s Annual Passage to Progress Stroll—a vibrant celebration that invites you to explore the heart of Historic Anacostia while commemorating the legacy of Juneteenth.
From June 19th through June 29th, we invite residents and visitors alike to discover the soul of Anacostia by visiting our neighborhood’s incredible local businesses. Each participating location will have special Passage to Progress booklets available—your personal guide on a cultural and educational stroll through this historic neighborhood.
Collect stamps at each stop along the way and learn about the story of Juneteenth through the lens of local Black-owned businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs. To earn a stamp, simply:

Once you’ve collected six stamps, bring your completed tour card to Busboys and Poets Anacostia. The first 50 participants to complete their cards will receive a limited-edition 2025 Anacostia Juneteenth commemorative t-shirt designed by celebrated DC artist MasPaz.
