A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Chris Thomas
No stranger to the stage, Chris Thomas has graced numerous venues. Along his journey, Chris has blasted his story at Studio 2001 Art Gallery, Angelina College, Howard University, Eleanor Roosevelt High School and Journey of Faith United Methodist Church. Just to name a few venues.
Chris Thomas raises his voice through his art for the benefit of Child Abuse Prevention Awareness, Black Lives Matter, SGL (Same Gender Loving) and the LGBT community. He knows there are many other minds, bodies and souls to be touched by his message. He intends to continue to challenge mindsets and command stages.
Ladies and gentleman, Chris Thomas.
FEATURING: JENNIFER EDEN
Jennifer Eden is a poet, event curator, and cultural competency trainer from Baltimore who recently relocated to Philly to build a life she wanted to live. She’s used writing as a coping mechanism from an early age and decided in her late teens to go public with her poetry. Her focus on planning monthly burlesque and variety shows with The Haux Hive and developing enriching programming for organizations like the Baltimore City Health Department, Planned Parenthood, and colleges and universities throughout Maryland has kept her away from the stage. But recent life changes have given her no choice but to return to her home on the mic and share her story. Jennifer’s work centers her identity as a Black queer femme and highlights the complexities of being a survivor, overcoming mental health hurdles, and healing from family and social traumas. She believes that sex and poetry are one in the same in the power it gives all participants to see beyond themselves. Jennifer Eden invites you to revel in the pro-Black, pro-woman, pro-hoe world her poetry creates.
