As the title of his new book suggests, Lee F. Satterfield is truly a Courageous Warrior. A survivor of childhood osteosarcoma, he went on to a distinguished legal career culminating as Chief Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. His is an amazing story of courage and perseverance, from his initial battle as a child losing his leg to this difficult form of bone cancer, through the latent health effects of his cancer treatments on his heart, which caused a stroke and most recently necessitated a transplant. Lee Satterfield is devoting this book and his quasi retirement to cancer advocacy. He speaks about the need for better medicines and a cure for these devastating cancers, which in several cases are shared and sometimes even indistinguishable between kids & man's best friend. Judge Satterfield has invited Canines-N-Kids to attend theNovember 10 Courageous Warriors Book Signing at Busboys and Poets in downtown DC to speak about the promise of comparative oncology - studying & treating cancers in canine patients when they get get sick - in order to speed translation into better treatments and a cure for kids with osteosarcoma and other cancers.
