Description:

Please join social justice author, Mamta Jain Valderrama, and CBS correspondent, Reena Ninan, as they discuss fiction’s ability to inform the public about real-world issues, and even impact public opinion and public policy. At the center of the discussion will be Mamta’s debut novel, A Girl In Traffick, based on true stories of human organ trafficking. Mamta spent a decade researching the black market for kidneys, and poured her learnings into her novel. She decided to write a page-turner thriller to attract a wider audience than nonfiction might bring. As it is, organ trafficking is rarely discussed in the context of human trafficking, and Mamta’s goal is to elevate awareness to spur action. Please join us for this one-night only discussion, reading, and signing.

Tix: $15.95 with one copy of A Girl In Traffick. Sponsored by the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs. Please email books@busboysandpoets.com with questions.
