Description:

You are officially invited to the Black Metal Starship Program! On Wednesday, February 12th from 5-7PM, artist and creative technologist Ari Melenciano will join AADHum at Busboys & Poets Hyattsville for a public book talk and film presentation.

Founder of the social institution Afrotectopia, Ari Melenciano works at the nexus of art, design, technology, and culture. She will join us with artist and co-author Jeremy Kamal Hartley to discuss Black Metal, a special limited edition anthology and art book that is both a cultural archive and a guide through spacetime. It uses Afrofuturist speculative design to push the boundaries of space travel, science fiction, Black culture, art, technology, and spirituality.

We welcome you to join us, to travel inside yourself, and to make space for futures here on earth, in the body, and beyond. Come find out who you are without constraints!
