Description:

In honor of the Day of Cuban Culture, Busboys and Poets has partnered with the Cuban Embassy to host a Cuban Film Festival to celebrate the art and culture of Cuba. Beginning October 13, we will host a series of film screenings at various Busboys and Poets locations.

We will host the Cuban Ambassador, Lianys Torres Rivera. (As the first woman to lead Cuba's mission in Washington, we are honored to host her at Busboys and Poets.) She will introduce the CUBAN CULTURAL FILM FESTIVAL, a joint project produced by the Cuban Embassy and Busboys and Poets. The first film of the festival, Cuba Libre, will be screened after her remarks. The film is 120 Min.

FILM SCREENING -- CUBA LIBRE is the story of what we know as the Spanish-American War, told through the eyes of two Afro-Cuban children caught up in the chaos of war.Simon and Samuel are the kids who will experience the defeat of the Spanish Army in their country and the ensuing US occupation in 1898 as an intense period of their lives.
