Join Friends of Guest House for a moderated discussion on the consequences of mass incarceration of women and the challenges women face returning to the community from incarceration. Women’s incarceration has skyrocketed since the 1970s, growing 14-fold in the last 40 years. The vast majority of women are incarcerated for non-violent offenses, and nearly 80% of incarcerated women are mothers.

The panel of current and former Guest House residents will discuss the importance of reentry services for women as they return to the community and to their families. Reentry services reduce crime, make our communities safer, save millions of taxpayer dollars otherwise spent on repeat incarcerations, and, literally, save the lives of the women we serve.Â
