Open Mic for Anacostia at the Busboys and Poets seeks to create awareness about racial and social injustice issues that affect people of color and the working class in the DMV area, challenges faced by women and LGBTQ folks. It unabashedly and unapologetically upholds progressive values and believes in promoting world peace and understanding.
The Open Mic for Anacostia seeks to bring together experts and lay people who are passionate about issues that affect our common humanity with an opportunity to exchange ideas as equals, whether they are an expert or novice.
It is an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, listen to diverse perspectives, and be a part of the change you want to see in the world. Participants may speak your mind or choose to simply sit back and absorb the powerful messages being shared.
