As the genocide in Gaza continues with US support, the climate movement learning the role of militarism as a driver of climate crisis. In parallel, organizers working on progressive foreign policy have begun to engage with the climate crisis and connecting the exercise of US military power to environmental degradation. The event will start with remarks from Rep. Delia Ramirez on how she sees the link between climate justice and Palestinian liberation, followed by a panel featuring Hebah Kassem, Ashik Siddique, and r Patrick Bigger. Panelists will discuss the environmental costs of US empire and how those processes are magnified in Palestine right now and how divesting from militarization and investing in just climate action is necessary to meet climate goals while creating possibilities for communities to thrive.
