"Spoken Word" is a literary and performance art in which lyrics, poetry, sketches, or stories are spoken instead of sung. This time we take the words and SPEAK them to music. The official music of DC – GoGo!

In preparation for the 2024 Spoken Word to Go-Go Competition, come try your spoken word poetry to a selected go-go track by The Experience Band & Show.

There will be two open mics before Round 1 in April. Round 2 will be May 4th at the Anacostia River Festival, Round 3 will be online voting and the Finale will be at the 32nd Giant Annual Barbecue Battle. This year's winner will win the Spoken Word to Go-Go Champion Title, the crystal mic, a recording session with The Experience Band & Show and a cash prize!!
