Description:

"It's okay."

7-year-old Alfie just lost his mummy and he is pretty sure she is not coming back. Alfie is struggling to understand if what he feels is okay. He is unsure how to ask about something he cannot name.

One day, after school, Alfie decides to be brave. He asks his teacher Mr. Miggins, is it okay?"

It's okay when we go through loss, heartache, depression, color what it may be, to not know our feelings. This children's picture book opens the conversation to be okay with not knowing. It doesn't judge. It allows the feeling to be heard.

Marie Callegari is joining us on the Busboys stage to share what it means to embrace the unknown. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and the author will be signing following the program.

This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of MY FAVOURITE COLOUR IS SEVEN will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is IN PERSON and will NOT be livestreamed.

We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books

Marie Callegari has been telling stories since childhood. Though some of her stories didn't keep her out of trouble.

One of ten children, Marie was captivated by storytelling as a central part of her upbringing. Stories were always told at gatherings with family and friends.

Marie published her first piece of poetry in the local central Florida paper at age nine and had her first featured extra role on the rock band Creed's video "Higher". A writer of magical realism and performance artist, Marie's storytelling can be seen and read globally.

Marie was also nominated for the Golden Sower Award for her children's book, "I Am a Wish, the Incredibly True Story of the Dandelion".
