As the war in Ukraine continues to intensify, with the growing danger of a direct U.S. confrontation with Russia, Peace in Ukraine and CODEPINK are launching a new action plan focusing on Congress called: “The Urgency of Pursuing Peace in Ukraine.”
We will be asking our elected officials to call for: Ceasefire, Diplomacy, and No More Weapons.
The launch will feature an evening talk including
Dr. Cornel West, Co-Executive Director of the People's Forum Claudia De La Cruz CODEPINK, Co-founder Medea Benjamin, journalist Eugene Puryear, and comedian/podcaster Lee Camp, followed the next morning by a National Advocacy Day. While some advocates will be advocating on Capitol Hill, local constituents will be calling in or joining the DC meetings by zoom.
These events are designed to educate, inspire and mobilize people to action. We must get serious about putting this Congress and administration on notice that they must reverse their present course, which is taking us to the precipice of a nuclear confrontation. Instead, they must join us in calling for a ceasefire and negotiations to end this terrible conflict that is spinning out of control.
