Description:

Politics and Prose at Busboys and Poets 14th & V welcomes Eric Liu to present his new book "You're More Powerful Than You Think: A Citizen's Guide to Making Change Happen."

Building on his popular TED talk and Atlantic article, Liu analyzes the political situation and offers concrete measures for reclaiming power from the bottom up. The digital era has altered the political playing field, Liu argues, and points to Black Lives Matter, Mauricio Lim Miller’s Family Independence Initiative, and other movements as examples of using social media for grassroots organizing. Founder and CEO of Citizen University and executive director of the Aspen Institute Citizenship and American Identity Program, Liu worked as a speechwriter and policy advisor for President Clinton, and he distills his broad experience into nine strategies for using today’s frustrating political landscape as an opportunity for action.

This event is supported by Citizen University and the Citizenship and American Identity Program.
