Description:

A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Ayanna Gallant

Ayanna Gallant is a musician, poet and educator with a passion for creativity. She has been a music and poetry teaching artist for various non-profit groups related to self-esteem, leadership and activism in the New England and Washington, D.C. area and is a middle school music teacher at Capital City Public Charter School. You can find Ayanna all over the city performing as a drummer, freelance trombonist, singer/songwriter and spoken word artist. She credits her students, colleagues and performing arts family for teaching her about the things that matter most, creating and learning. Publications include The 2008 Poets’ Guide to New Hampshire, and the chapbooks How to Say Hello and Screams, Moans and Lullabies (Sargent Press). Most recently, her poem "Pregnant Pause” was accepted by Wicked Banshee Press for an anthology of poems about survival. Ayanna has shared stages with Branford Marsalis, Clark Terry and former US Poet Laureate, Billy Collins.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.

$5 cover. Wristbands are available for purchase online here at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM (cash only). No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door if available. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.

Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats.
