Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets 14th & V welcomes Julianne Malveaux to present their new book "Are We Better Off? Race, Obama, and Public Policy," and Michael Days to present their new book "Obama's Legacy: What He Accomplished as President."

Dr. Malveaux is president emerita of Bennett College for Women and is the current president of PUSH Excel. A frequent lecturer and commentator on economics, public policy, and women’s rights, she is also an activist and serves on the boards of the Economic Policy Institute, The Recreation Wish List Committee of Washington, D.C., and the Liberian Education Trust. In her latest book, the author of Surviving and Thriving offers a deeply considered analysis of President Obama’s two terms in office. Using a wide range of published opinions, editorials, and other documents, Dr. Malveaux discusses the administration’s achievements and shortfalls and puts this presidency in the wider context of some of the country’s most urgent concerns.
