Description:

Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets 5th & K welcomes Gary Younge to present  new book "Another Day in the Death of America."

Statistics predict that on any given day, seven people under age nineteen will be shot in the United States. Choosing a day at random, Younge, an award-winning British columnist currently writing for The Nation, and the author of No Place Like Home and Who Are We, investigates the premature ends of ten young people killed by guns on November 23, 2013. The victims ranged from age nine to eighteen. They died in New Jersey, Michigan, Ohio, and Chicago, victims of domestic violence, rage, and gangs. In telling the particular stories of these lost lives, Younge excoriates a culture that values its guns more than it does its children.
