Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is observed every October by advocates, survivors, and supporters. By commemorating domestic violence, we are raising awareness of what domestic violence is, how it can be recognized, and how we can collectively prevent it.
In this month's citywide campaign, Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags, Association of Black Social Workers, the Mayor's Office for Women's Policy Initiatives, the DC Black United Front, and ANC 8C are bringing attention to the issues of domestic violence and how we can each contribute to changing the narrative surrounding this important but overshadowed issue.
