“ROOM FOR HOPE FESTIVAL: A CELEBRATION OF PALESTINIAN ARTS & CULTURE”

As part of the Busboys & Poets' Peace Cafe series, join us for an evening of music, food and peace at our Room for Hope Festival Concert. Featuring the Georges Lammam Ensemble, accompanied by students from Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, Palestine. Also, be inspired by Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb, world-renowned theologian and advocate for peace in the Middle East, and personal narratives from Dar al-Kalima University students and faculty.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

A week-long, multi-event festival is planned for the D.C. metro area this fall. “Room for Hope: A Palestinian Arts Celebration” will be happening at the end of September with many opportunities to experience the unique culture direct from the Holy Land.

“Room for Hope: A Palestinian Arts Celebration” offers culinary delights, film screenings, music and presentations by Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb. Raheb was the 2015 Olof Palme Prize award winner as well as the 2011 German Media Prize award winner. He serves as president and founder of the Diyar Consortium, Dar al-Kalima University, the Synod of ELCJHL, Bright Stars of Bethlehem and The International Center in Bethlehem. Raheb is the most widely published Palestinian author and has received extensive attention from major international media networks including BBC, CNN, ABC, The Economist, Newsweek and CBS’s 60 Minutes.

In addition to Raheb’s presentation, two guest Palestinian chefs will provide cooking demonstrations. A selection of authentic Palestinian films will be screened and concerts featuring The Georges Lammam Ensemble and musicians from Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, Palestine.

Please visit roomforhope2016.eventbrite.com for the full list of events, to RSVP and purchase tickets. Space is limited at all events, so please register in advanced.

The ministries include Dar al-Kalima University College, the Diyar Academy for Children and Youth and the Ajyal Seniors Program. Each of these programs equips community members of all ages to assume a proactive role in shaping a brighter future and bringing hope to the Holy Land.
