Description:

Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets 14th & V welcomes Sarah Jaffe to present their new book "Necessary Trouble: Americans in Revolt."

From the Tea Party to Occupy Wall Street, from Black Lives Matter to the grassroots support for Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign, Americans are no longer apathetic about politics—if they ever were.
Jaffe, a Nation Institute fellow and an independent journalist who covers the front lines of radical activism as co-host of Dissent’s Belabored podcast, columnist for New Labor Forum, and editorial board member of Dissent, surveys these and other movements, both local and national. She details their motivations, agendas, and actions, looking closely at a wide range of social justice issues. Showing both how much has already changed and how much still needs to, Jaffe’s progress report on today’s activism is an inspiring call to action.
