Description:

Affectionately known as “The Race Healer,” Milagros Phillips has been facilitating programs for over 35 years on race literacy, racial conditioning, and healing from racism that inform, transform, and lead to inspired action. In Cracking the Healer's Code she invites us to walk through the healing process and be transformed. Racism is a condition that affects the whole human race - the entire human family. More than fifty years have passed since the Civil Rights Movement, yet here stands America, still struggling with the issue of race. But that can change if we have the courage to move toward our collective transformation. This book is a guidebook to help us do just that. Within the pages of this book you'll find the historical context behind the last five hundred years of our internalized racial conditioning. Milagros provides the roadmap for breaking through the layers of misinformation, preconceived assumptions, and stereotypes. Moving through the violence and trauma of our human history will not be an easy task, nor should it be. Cracking the Healer’s Code gives us a healing process broken down into stages, one which will empower us to claim our right to wholeness, and provides resources to help us connect the dots at the end of the process.

Milagros' work comes from lived experience and is backed by historical and scientific research. It comes from walking through the shadow to find her light, and in the process, helping others find theirs. She comes to the Busboys stage to bring us her work full of great compassion, a deep understanding of race, and awareness of peoples' individual and collective power.

This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, with an introduction from a member of our Busboys and Poets team, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Signed copies of CRACKING THE HEALER’S CODE will be available for purchase at the event. Full dinner service is available throughout the show. Please note that this event will not be livestreamed.

We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books. Proof of RSVP may be requested on arrival if capacity is reached.
