Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets 14th & V welcomes Julissa Arce to present their new book "My Underground American Dream: My True Story as an Undocumented Immigrant Who Became a Wall Street Executive."
The story of a woman’s rise to one of the top positions on Wall Street would be illuminating in and of itself. When that woman is Hispanic, the story is that much more valuable for being rare. And when she’s an undocumented immigrant—it’s a story that must be heard. Arce’s important memoir starts with her arrival in the U.S. from Mexico at age eleven on a tourist visa. When the visa expired four years later, she became technically undocumented. Thanks to the Texas Dream Act, however, she was able to attend college, where her talents were recognized, setting her on track for her future as a Goldman Sachs vice president.
Arce will be in conversation with WAMU senior reporter Armando Trull.
