Tamara Draut, author of the new book Sleeping Giant: How the New Working Class Will Transform America, will be joined in conversation by organizers who lift the voices and concerns of working-class Americans, including Ronnie Galvin, Senior Advisor at the Center for Community Change; Tiffany Loftin, Program Coordinator for the Civil, Human and Women’s Rights Department at the AFL-CIO; and Enchanta Jackson, Criminal Justice Campaign Manager at Color of Change.
In Sleeping Giant, the follow-up to her critically acclaimed book Strapped: Why America's 20- and 30-Somethings Can't Get Ahead (Doubleday, 2006), Demos Vice President Tamara Draut details how recent movements like the Fight for 15 and Black Lives Matter are shaking up our politics, and reigniting a debate about economic and racial inequality. And she makes it clear that their fight is our fight. Reviving their political and economic power is essential for addressing the toxic inequality that affects us all.
