A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Black Chakra

Jacob Mayberry a.k.a Black Chakra is a Baltimore-based spoken word artist and emcee whose talent has been showcased on stages across America. He is a poetry instructor for Dewmore Baltimore, where he led the Woodlawn High School Poetry Team to city slam victory for four straight years. Black Chakra is a former member of the 2016 National Slam Championship at the National Poetry Slam (NPS). In 2017, Black Chakra won Baltimore’s Grand Slam Finals and helped lead Baltimore’s Poetry Team to victory at Southern Fried.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.

$5 cover. Wristbands are available for purchase online at midnight and in the restaurant starting at 10:00 AM. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.

Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in forfeiture of seats. Sorry, no refunds.

For the health & safety of our Tribe and the community, Busboys and Poets has implemented a proof of vaccination requirement for patrons at all of our locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Therefore, Busboys and Poets requires all guests attending events to be vaccinated. Attendees must provide proof of vaccination at check-in. Those with medical or religious exemptions must provide proof of exemption status. Masks must also be worn properly (covering nose and mouth) at all times inside of Busboys and Poets when not actively eating or drinking.
