Focus-In! Films presents Another Kind Of Girl film screening and discussion.
In the midst of the most severe migrant crisis in Europe since World War II, learn how two people, filmmaker Laura Doggett and Attorney Adam Rosser, are making a difference. Doggett traveled to the Za'atari refugee camp in Lebanon and the city of Irbid, Jordan to give Syrian girls cameras and the chance to tell their own stories in their own voices; one of her protégés, Khaldiya Jibawi, made an award-winning short film that was shown at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Rosser was vacationing in Greece when he witnessed firsthand the plight of refugees arriving on the beaches of Lesvos by boat. He co-founded a grassroots group called Sea of Solidarity to provide for the immediate needs of the refugees.
