Winner of the 2021 Etel Adnan Poetry Prize, LIKE WE STILL SPEAK is a collection about love, death, and family. Conversation and memory are at the heart of this elegiac and formally inventive debut. Through her writing, Badra continues to talk with her sister and her father, both of whom she has lost. In a creative format that lends itself to the emotional content of the book, Badra often sets her words alongside the words of those who have passed on in polyphonic poems that can be read in multiple directions. Badra invites the reader to engage in this communal space where she investigates inheritance, witnessing, intimacy, and survival.

Danielle is joined by Holly Mason to unpack the depth of her work. There will be time for Q&A with the audience before the end of the program, as well as the opportunity to purchase a copy of LIKE WE STILL SPEAK for Danielle to sign the night of!
