Ten of our Student Ambassadors participated on the Annual International Tour. They are 11th and 12th grade students from local public and charter schools. Student Ambassadors are student leaders elected by their peers to represent their sites. Student Ambassadors embarked on the 5th International Study Tour from November 21, 2015-December 1, 2015. During the 10-day trip, students visited Ghana and Turkey and were able to learn about a variety of things while embracing the beauty of the local culture. The first stop was Istanbul, Turkey, where students were able to view the historic Sultanahmet Square which houses several obelisks and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (The Blue Mosque). While in Ghana, they visited cultural and historical sites including schools, an Ashanti village, the home of WEB DuBois, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and slave castles at Elmina and Cape Coast. All in all, the students visited three different areas in Ghana (Accra, Kumasi, and Elmina), which allowed them to consider the differences between the areas, such as the culture and the landscape.  This event is open to the Public.
