Description:

Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets Takoma welcomes Helen Oyeyemi to present the new book What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours.

Oyeyemi captivated readers and critics with her haunting debut, Icarus Girl, and continued her literary spell through The Opposite House, White is for Witching, and the dazzling Mr. Foxand Boy, Snow, Bird, where she perfected her own kind of magic realism, blending fairy tales, iconic plot motifs, and the sometimes uncomfortable realities of multi-cultural communities. In her sixth work of fiction the award-winning novelist has collected a set of stories in which keys figure both literally and figuratively in each narrative, opening doors and hearts, and locking away secrets, in always beguiling ways.

Oyeyemi will be in conversation with Margaret Talbot, staff writer at The New Yorker and author of The Entertainer.

This event is part of the Politics & Prose and PEN/Faulkner Contemporary Fiction Reading Series.
