Kid-Songs with Audrey Engdahl: Spark their joy with music that cradles and connects!
Acoustic guitar slowly warms the room full of sippy cups and coffee cups. The feeling is calm, anticipating. As the singing starts, see the little ones bouncing. Kiddos are crawling, climbing down from their chairs, and delighted pre-schoolers in the front are already starting to dance.
This is the scene when Audrey Engdahl leads Rise and Rhyme. The music swings from melodic to rhythmic, from dancing to finger-play, from close-up and solo to a whole room sing-along. The texture of opposites keeps these kids rapt.
Audrey performs music for children at cafes, festivals and markets around the DC area. In addition to her day-job teaching music to young children, Audrey parents two gangly rascals of ever-increasing height. Audrey and partner Rick have won various awards for songwriting and recording, including a Best Debut Recording WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Award) nomination and a Parents’ Choice Award.
